Before we get into the question of how the ancient Greeks, or more accurately the ancestors of the ancient Greeks; the Mycenaeans, and other early cultures came by the knowledge of Pi; one fundamental question cries out for an answer. Why Pi? Why is Pi god, life, etc.? The answer to this question is actually quite simple. Its ramifications, however, are more than a little scary.

First, what is Pi? Pi is defined mathematically as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. But, not just any circle will do. Pi is that ratio of a PERFECT circle’s circumference to its diameter. But, a perfect circle does not exist in nature and thus Pi is simply an abstract mathematical concept, or is it?

For all of you philosophers and quantum physicists out there, answer this question. How can we have the concept of or KNOW something that doesn’t exist? It MUST exist for us to know about it at all! Thus, PERFECTION MUST EXIST. Most rational people call perfection, “God”.

So, Pi is a perfect circle. Where o’ where can we find a perfect circle? Easy. LIFE is a perfect circle. Come-on, everyone, sing with me from Disney’s The Lion King. “It’s the CIRCLE of LIFE…” Life begins and ends in a perfect circle. In fact it MUST, otherwise life wouldn’t exist.

God is invariably described as being “PERFECT” or “perfection”. And we can say that if Pi is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to it’s diameter, and it has to be perfect, then who is keeping the circle perfect? It isn’t going to do it by itself. The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that the “entropy”, the amount of disorder, in a cycle always increases. But not a PERFECT cycle. A PERFECT cycle would not increase in entropy. Perfect circles/cycles do not exist in nature, so this perfect circle must exist beyond the physical world and SOMETHING must be keeping this perfect circle PERFECT.

Now, to expand on this a little bit, for life to exist, things must be PERFECT and life exists within the confines of the whole physical world. In other words, the entire universe, cosmos, etc. Thus, it follows that for life to exist at all, the entire universe must be kept PERFECT.

This is where it starts to get a little scary. If, for life to exist, things must be kept PERFECT, then we might want to think about NOT SCREWING IT UP!!

Stay with me here. If things must be PERFECT for life to exist and through our free will we do things that go AGAINST the “natural” order of things. Call it “God’s will” if you will, then that means that somebody has to be compensating for our free will in order to keep our sorry asses alive. Otherwise, the entire shee-bang would spiral out of control, increase in entropy, no longer be PERFECT and POOF! we’re all history.

“The key to life is Balance!!” You’ve seen those hokey signs out there. Well, apparently, it’s truer that we might suspect. Life continues to exist because we are balanced on the knife’s edge of complete Chaos. For ORDER to exist at all, things must be PERFECT. But! What kind of order would you have if EVERYTHING was exactly defined and perfect? You certainly would not have free will. You could have a perfect cube, a perfectly LIFELESS cube. Thus, in order to have life and have free will, the ONLY equation is Pi. Again, Pi, predictable unpredictability. And somebody a LOT smarter than us, someone that is PERFECT, figured out how to create a PERFECT circle. We sure as hell can’t do it.

So, all of you scientists and philosophers out there that think you are so damn smart. Go create a perfect circle. You can’t you freaking idiots, which further PROVES the existence of God, yes THE GOD, THE PERFECT GOD that is all-knowing, all seeing, blah blah blah. And guess what? That God is US, it is LIFE ITSELF. “God is in all things.” Sound familiar? It’s because it’s TRUE!!! So quit trying to understand something that you are NEVER going to understand. You are NEVER going to solve Pi because it is UNSOLVABLE!!

Let me pander to the physicists here for a moment and talk in their language. Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity is can be stated as a single equation, which is really several equations packaged into one.

G^mn = 8pGn T^mn

Oh looky, there’s Mr. Pi. Now, as I understand it, the term G^mn is called “Einstein’s tensor” which is the curvature or flexing of space-time. The term T^mn is called the “stress energy tensor” which is how matter and energy are distributed in space and time. Now, for all you non-physicists out there, what this basically means is that the “fabric” of space-time, whatever the hell that is, can bend and stretch in a single locality AND that the ENTIRE universe can bend and stretch as well.

And this is EXACTLY what is occurring. In other words, as our “free will” screws things up, SOMEBODY is compensating for this and keeping things in a perfect circle.

Now, if I were God and I were looking down on us little humans, I would be thinking something along the lines of:

“Quit making things ugly and imperfect or else I am going to have to wipe you off the face of the Earth and start ALL OVER AGAIN. And damn it; it’s taken a long time to get here and I really like you guys but you guys need to come together and figure out how to live in harmony with the rest of the freaking universe or ELSE!”

So, to summarize. Pi exists and life exists because Pi is the ONLY equation that allows LIFE to exist. The ENTIRE universe is kept in BALANCE through minute corrections necessary to account for free will. The “force” keeping these things in BALANCE, keeping the ratio of the circumference of the LIFE CYCLE to its diameter in a PERFECT CIRCLE is GOD. And finally, as hokey as it seems to say this, that force, that embodiment of God is LOVE, or “NH”, the fundamental building block of LIFE, the thing that PROVES free will because otherwise, those two elements would NEVER have combined on their OWN, not with “The Unbridled Reproductive Urge”, O present.
