The Trouble with Jews

The Wrath of the Fallen Angels

October, 2003

Many people in America do not understand why fundamentalist Islamists and others in the Middle East so despise the Jews. Frankly, I cannot understand this lack of understanding. I realize that people seem to think that this issue is complex, but it is really not all that complicated at all. I don’t know if people chalk this issue up as complex because they are either too lazy to give about ten minutes of critical thought to the issue or they simply do not like the obvious conclusions that would result from those ten minutes of critical thought. Regardless, for all of you out there that are somehow mystified about the origin of this unbridled hatred in the Middle East with regards to the Jews, I am going to spell it out for you.

First, just so you know, I am a Catholic white male of German descent and am in no way a religious scholar or history buff. However, even with what little I remember from my CCD classes (it’s a Catholic thing), even I can tell you why many in the Middle East despise the Jews. The name Moses ring a bell here? Moses, and the exodus, er, I mean Exodus, of the Jews from pharaoh? Are you with me here? Good. Guess what? Moses was a Jew and the people that he saved from pharaoh were Jews. Now, what this means is that the Jews were the slave underclass of the Middle East. Ah yes, that whole Moses leading the slaves out of Egypt is starting to ring a bell!

OK, so the Jews were slaves thousands of years ago, we’re talking B.C. here folks, in the Middle East. Moses led his people (the Jews) out of slavery, parted the Red Sea, yadda, yadda. Now, first of all, it is not like the Jews left the Middle East under the best of terms. People hated them thousands of years ago because they were the slave underclass. People thought of them as property, not people. Second, if the Biblical text is to be believed, it is not like the Jews worked real hard to endear themselves, spreading plagues, raining toads, killing people’s first born and the like. No wonder they were driven away into the desert! I mean...come on.

So, now we fast forward a few thousand years to right after World War II. World War II proved that people STILL hated the Jews to the tune of six million or so persecuted and killed by the Nazis. Now this is the part that REALLY trips me out when I hear Jesse Jackson or some other nimrod complain about race relations in the United States. Slavery in the United States only ended about 150 years ago and today blacks are pretty well fully integrated into the mainstream, have all of their rights protected and are fully productive members of today’s society. The Jews were slaves several thousand years ago and they are STILL being persecuted and generally treated like crap, especially in the Middle East. So, blacks, just shut-up about how bad race relations are in the United States. If ANY group has a right to complain about their status in society after being slaves, it is the Jews, not blacks. Blacks have had it way easy compared to the Jews.

OK, so now World War II ends and the world has all of these persecuted Jews sitting around. These Jews petition the U.N. for their own nation, what eventually became Israel. And what does the U.N. do? They actually give it to them! Now, forgive me if I am missing something here, but since when does the U.N. start kicking out people that were currently living in a region and dictate that some new people get to move in and start their own country? That is CRAZY! And here we have the second reason why the Jews are hated today by those in the Middle East, the first being that they were slaves and spread plagues. And let me put this in terms that everyone should be able to understand. If someone came to my house and told me I had to get out and that this or that other family got to move in, you are damn right that I would tell them to get bent and would hate them until the day I die. And I would pass that hatred down to my children and they to their children. I would do everything in my power to screw over the family that moved into MY house and would NEVER trust the people (the U.N.) that kicked me out of my house.

So, you take a group of people that are already hated slaves and known to kill people’s first born sons, move them back to where they have already been kicked out of once and kick the people currently living there out. And remind me again why it is so hard to understand why Jews are so despised in the Middle East?

But, as if this wasn’t bad enough, the Jews didn’t just wait around patiently for the U.N. to give them Israel. Oh no. After World War II ended, the Jews just started migrating en masse to what is now Israel while they were petitioning the U.N. And, apparently this still wasn’t enough, so they started terrorizing the current occupants, the British and the Palestinians, to get them to move away. So, the Jews, not the Palestinians, actually started the practice of bombing the people they did not like and, technically, invented what has evolved into today’s modern-day terrorism.

It should be pretty evident by now why the Jews are hated in the Middle East. They start out as slaves and come back to terrorize people and take land to which they have no legitimate claim. And the U.N., feeling bad for the Jews after Hitler got done with them, went ahead and gave them Israel, so now the Jews were slaves, become terrorists and ended up as conquerors. It should not be too much of a stretch here to figure out why there is such a deep-seeded hatred against the Jews in the Middle East.

Now, what does this all mean? Does this mean that the terrorism against Israel is justified? Absolutely not! Terrorism is NEVER justifiable. But, what example do the Palestinians have to go by? Hmm, so the Jews committed blatant acts of terrorism and they got their own country? Why WOUDN’T the Palestinians see terrorism as the way to achieve their goals? Of COURSE they see terrorism as the way to get their own state. Hell, it worked for the Jews!

What else does this mean? This also means that the U.N. has absolutely no credibility when it comes to Palestine and Israel. What the U.N. did by giving the Jews their own country, at the expense of the people ALREADY living in that region, was WRONG. Dead wrong, absolutely no justification for it. Why would the Palestinians trust the U.N., or the United States for that matter, when those are the organizations that stole their land in the first place? It makes absolutely no sense.

So what is the answer to the problem with the Middle East? Well, I think that if you are logical and fair-minded, there is only a single solution. And that solution is to dissolve Israel and return the land to the people that originally owned it, i.e. the Palestinians. I realize that this sounds harsh and crazy, but I do not see anything else that is fair and equitable. Every other solution is simply patently unfair. It may sound mean, but the Jews have gotten exactly what they asked for. Do they deserve what they get? There’s an argument to be made there, but I do not believe that ANYONE deserves to be terrorized. However, they should not be surprised and if they want peace, then they have to take a long, hard look at their past and search deep inside themselves to determine what they know in their hearts is the JUST and RIGHT thing to do. I mean, maybe the Jews just need to ask themselves, “What Would Jesus Do?” Oh wait, scratch that.

Anyhoo, here is where the really fun part starts. While terrorism is in no way justifiable, ever, there will never be peace in the Middle East until Israel is dissolved, one way or the other. Please do not mistake these comments as any sort of mean-spiritedness or ire towards Jews. I am completely apathetic in this regard. I really do not have a side on this and really do not care what happens. Whatever happens, it will not be decided by you or I and will likely not have any bearing on logic, reason or what is fair. I am neither a proponent or opponent of any solution. All I can do is look at the facts logically, fairly and objectively and in doing so come to some sort of logical conclusion. And in doing this, there is only one inescapable conclusion. There has never been or ever will be a valid reason for taking someone’s, anyone’s, home from them either by decree or by force. No exceptions. This means that the establishment of the state of Israel was unjust. Absolutely, unequivocally, unjust. I don’t care if 6 million or 6 billion Jews have been tortured and killed in the past several thousand years, there is, without question, no valid reason for kicking someone out of their house. The Palestinians were treated unfairly and unjustly.

Now, what has been done is done. The Jews now inhabit Israel and now must endure terrorist attacks from Palestine. These attacks are unjust and absolutely nothing can justify them. There has never been or ever will be a valid reason for terrorizing anyone. No exceptions, not even stealing your land. Hey, let’s be honest and call a spade a spade. That’s what happened. And it still doesn’t justify terrorism. And the Jews have every right, every single right, to defend themselves against such attacks by any means necessary, including taking out Iran and Syria if need be. Israel must absolutely be allowed to aggressively defend themselves by doing the same thing the United States is doing and attacking the regimes of those states that sponsor terrorism. But, and this is a big but, they mustn’t whine or be helped in this regard. Jews have no one but themselves to blame for their current situation because, ultimately, it was their own choices and actions that led to their current predicament. Jews, just like everyone else in this world must take responsibility for their actions.

Which brings us to those ultimately responsible for the current Middle East mess. Without question, this is the U.N. as well as the United States and Britain. They too must own up to their responsibilities and deal with the consequences of their actions. It was the unjust act of establishing and recognizing Israel as a sovereign nation that created this problem. This act was unjust and the only way to make it right is to no longer recognize Israel as a sovereign nation. It is an inescapable conclusion. I am sure that there will be those that argue that we cannot undo what has already been done. This is nonsense. There will be logistical, technical and social issues to be worked out for sure, but no more so than completely rebuilding Iraq. Would such a thing be unjust? Absolutely not. It was never the U.N. or anyone else’s land to give so undoing an unjust act is absolutely the just and right thing to do. How often are we presented an opportunity to undo unjust acts that we have committed in our youth?

And what of the Jews? The Jews will either immigrate to a location of their choice or stay and attempt to live in peace with the Palestinians. Their choice. Let’s hope that if given such a choice they would choose wisely and not start spreading plagues or blowing things up. Sure, the Jews may indeed have been persecuted for thousands of years, but it’s not like they have been angels themselves.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes the subtitle is indeed a reference to Jews being in league with Satan. I just thought I’d throw that in because it seems oddly appropriate given the subject matter, the history of and justification for Jewish persecution. I just find it funny and satirical in a sick, twisted sort of way. Don’t get your shorts all in a bunch.
